Refund of Delivery Charges (Cancelled Orders)

If you return an order in its entirety, then your outbound delivery charges will also be refunded (for orders within the South Africa’s Local Area’s.

If you return only part of an order, then the outbound delivery charge refund will be calculated based on the total postage cost of the original order (using standard service) minus the cost to send the items you are keeping (using standard service). Due to the way that shipping costs are incremented, this will often result in no delivery charge refund being due.

Faulty or Defective Goods

Any goods found to be faulty or defective and notified to us within 7 days of delivery can be returned to us for a full refund.

Refund of Delivery Charges (Faulty/Defective Goods)

If you are returning faulty or defective goods, then your outbound and return delivery costs will be refunded in full (for orders from within South Africa’s Local Area’s.)

In the event that you are returning faulty or defective goods which were ordered as part of a larger order then the outbound delivery charge refund will be calculated based on the total postage cost of the original order (using standard service) minus the cost to send the items you are keeping (using standard service).

Please check the box to acknowledge our return’s policy, by doing so you agree to our Return’s Policy of AMT Composites stated above.

If a product is backordered and ordered with other products, your order will only ship once the backordered item is back in stock.

Flake-It Colour Basecoat

Packaging & Coverage

  • 3.5 L kit consisting of Part A and Part B.
  • 6 to 8 m²/litre/coat.
  • One colour coat diluted 5% with water, followed by a 2nd colour coat, flakes and a clear topcoat.

NOTE: Coverage rates shown are theoretical. Actual coverage rates may vary. Make necessary allowances for the condition of the surface to be coated, working conditions, waste, spillage, experience level and skill of the installers, etc.

Basecoat Substrate Preparation

  • Remove oils, grease and other contaminants by scrubbing with a suitable degreaser and cleaner followed by rinsing with clean running potable water, to obtain a water break-free surface. Allow to dry.
  • Abrade the surface by etching with Ramuc Clean & Prep solution or grinding or light vacu blasting to remove laitance and open all voids.
  • The roughened surface should have a texture similar to 100-grit sandpaper, and minimum tensile strength of 1.5 MPa and moisture content of 5% maximum.
  • All grind marks in floor substrate should be patched before applying the coating to give a smooth finish.

Basecoat Patching & priming

  • If necessary patch cracks and holes by filling with Dural 30/35NS Quickset Epoxy Paste or, if badly pitted, skim floor surface with a trowel, using a suitable screed.
  • Allow to cure and sand smooth before coating.
  • Apply one coat of FLAKE-IT Flooring basecoat thinned with 5% water at approximately 6-8m²/litre with a roller to seal the pores.
  • Allow to cure for 6 to 8 hours before overcoating.

Basecoat Coating

  • Apply another coat of FLAKE-IT Flooring basecoat after priming at 6 to 8m²/litre using a medium nap roller.
  • Work in 1 m² strips applying the coating and then throwing flakes underhand into the air over that strip.
  • This ensures the flakes have a wet surface to bond to and ensures the flakes are scattered evenly.
  • After completing the whole floor in this manner wait 6-8 hours before applying the clear coat on top, 2 of these clear coats can be applied dependant on the texture of your floor.

NB: If cold conditions prevail, this curing time must be extended.
Caution – Take care when throwing the flakes to not throw onto any dry surfaces.

Basecoat Mixing

  • Empty the entire contents of the Activator component into the Base component and mix thoroughly for 2 minutes using an impeller fitted to a variable speed drill.
  • Transfer material into another mixing container, scraping the sides and bottom of the container and remix for a further 2 minutes.
  • This step is critical to ensure complete cross-linking of components is achieved.
  • Do not aerate mix nor mix by hand.

Cold conditions

Low temperatures decrease flow, delay set and affect water resistance and final appearance. Materials should be conditioned for 16 hours at 21-27°C; heaters should be utilised to warm floors.

Basecoat Curing

  • If temperatures are between 16°C to 30°C, the coating system can be exposed to light traffic after 48 hours.
  • Excessive traffic, aqueous cleaning and exposure to chemicals should only take place after 7 days, when full cure has been achieved.

Shelf Life

24 Months if stored between 15°C-30°C.

Basecoat Storage Conditions

Store all components of FLAKE-IT Flooring between 16°C and 32°C in a dry area. Avoid excessive heat and do not freeze.

Basecoat Recommendations

  • DO NOT attempt to install material if temperature of components and substrate are not within 16°C to 30°C. The cure time and application properties of the material are severely affected.
  • DO NOT use water or steam in the vicinity of the application. Moisture can seriously affect the working time and other properties.
  • Protect areas from dust and isolate access. Contamination between layers will affect the final appearance.
  • Avoid contact with all liquid Parts A and B as they may cause skin and/or eye irritation. Workmen should cover hands with protective creams or rubber gloves and wear safety glasses.
  • Use only with adequate ventilation.

Flake-It Topcoat

Topcoat Substrate Preparation

  • Ensure any loose flakes are swept off the Flake-it flooring basecoat and ensure surface is clean before applying the topcoat.
  • Ensure to paint the topcoat on within the basecoats recoat window.

Topcoat Coating

  • Apply a coat of Flake-it flooring topcoat using a medium nap roller.
  • Work in 1 m² sections applying the coating over the basecoat and flakes.
  • Wait 12 hours before applying a second coat, if required.

NB: If cold conditions prevail, this curing time must be extended.

Topcoat Mixing

  • Empty the entire contents of the Activator component into the Base component and mix thoroughly for 2 minutes using an impeller fitted to a variable speed drill.
  • Transfer material into another mixing container, scraping the sides and bottom of the container and remix for a further 2 minutes.
