Developed by Gurit, Spabond™ 440 is a high-performance, toughened medium bondline epoxy adhesive designed to deliver high glass transition temperature (Tg), strength, and toughness. Building on the proven performance of Spabond™ 340, this highly versatile system shares its hardener components with Spabond™ 435 and 445, providing a comprehensive and complete adhesive solution.
Key Features & Benefits
- Exceptional Drainage Resistance: The adhesive can be applied in thicknesses of up to 20mm on vertical surfaces at 20°C without the risk of drainage.
- Flexible Dispensing: Spabond™ 440 is designed for ease of use through both two-component cartridges and straight-sided pails or drums for machine mixing.
- Visual Mix Indication: It utilizes a straightforward 3:1 mix ratio by volume, and the hardener components are pigmented to provide a clear visual indication of mix quality.
- Hardener Versatility: Available with Spabond™ 400 Fast and Slow hardeners, the system offers a full range of working and clamp times.
- Improved Safety: The unique formulation offers enhanced health and safety through the careful selection of low-toxicity raw materials.
- Industry Certifications: The adhesive is Lloyds Register Approved, with DNV-GL certification currently pending.
Application & Preparation
Spabond™ 440 is optimized for use at temperatures between 15-25°C. To ensure the best possible bond, all surfaces must be thoroughly clean, dry, and dust-free prior to application. Different materials—such as metals, polyester laminates, ferrocement, and timber—require specific surface pre-treatments ranging from chemical etching to abrasion to maximize adhesion.
