Tooling & Vacuum Bagging Processing

Peel ply
Peel plies are a tightly woven fabric, often nylon, which is placed on top of the wet laminate prior to bagging and curing. The peel ply will stick to the laminate, but will pull away without too much difficulty. Peel ply protects secondary bonding surfaces from contamination after cure and when peeled off leaves a surface suitable for secondary bonding or painting. Note that peel ply will absorb a small amount of resin, and this must be accounted for. Peelply must be heat set and scoured by the manufacturer to remove contaminates and reduce shrinkage.
